LifeNet STEMI
Dauterive Hospital partnered with Acadian Ambulance in fall 2008 to introduce new medical technology to the Teche Area that will save countless lives.
LifeNet STEMI, a ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Management Solution System, is provided by Physio-Control, a division of MedTronic. Mobile devices aboard ambulances equipped with this technology can be used to wirelessly transmit electrocardiogram (EKG) readings from the scene to the Dauterive Hospital Emergency Department, Cath Lab and a cardiologist's personal data assistant (PDA) with the touch of a single button.
This Web-based system allows patient care teams to decide before the patient arrives at the hospital if there is a need to mobilize the Cath Lab team or free Emergency Department space to treat the incoming cardiac patient. Thus, response time is drastically decreased, survival rates increase and patient recovery time is reduced.
