Surgical Care
The Surgical Department at Dauterive Hospital features five Operating Room Suites and one Cysto/GI Suite capable of comprehensive General and Minimally Invasive procedures.
The department participates in both the First Assist and Peri-op 101 programs. Dauterive Hospital also offers a Same Day Surgery Unit for certain procedures, designed to offer our clients a cost-saving, comfortable and convenient way to have surgery.
Stryker Endoscopy Suite
Dauterive Hospital recently renovated one of its five Operating Room Suites into a state-of-the-art Stryker Endoscopy Surgical Suite, which allows surgeons to perform laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures right here in the heart of the Teche Area.
X-ray images taken live during a procedure are projected on a high-definition, flat-panel television screen installed on the wall and on a separate high-definition, flat-panel television screen installed on a radial arm. This allows the surgeon and surgical team to see live, detailed, crisp images of what is going on inside the body as it happens.
Pre-Operative Screening/Testing
Pre-testing, such as X-rays, an EKG or blood work, are frequently needed before surgery. The tests must be done at least 48 hours before a procedure so your surgeon and anesthesiologist may review the results.
Notify your surgeon if you become ill, feel you have the flu, a cold or if you experience any elevated temperature.
